What Even Is Blogging?
What is a 'blog', and what makes a 'business blog' different or any better than an 'everyday blog'?
WIP
My take on the difference between an 'everyday blog' and a 'business blog' is the intention behind it.
Business blogs are part of a business's digital marketing strategy with the ultimate aim of driving sales and increasing revenues. An 'everyday blog', on the other hand, doesn't quite have the same underlying commercial aim or drive. This is one of the reasons it can be so tricky for a 'business blog' to feel authentic or genuine.
But what is a blog in the first place?
To answer that, we're going to take a trip back to the early days of the Internet.
It's c.1989, and John B. launched the World Wide Web as we know it. This was hosted on a NeXT computer at CERN. Next computers, by the way, were what Apple's Steve Jobs was up to between getting sacked by Apple, being involved with the formation of Pixar and then getting hired back by Apple...more to come on that in a separate blog on dealing with setbacks, career changes or something like that.
